Mangrove Planting

In commemoration of Environment Day which is celebrated in June, PT. Santos Jaya Abadi (east region) held mangrove planting activities. This activity is a form of invitation so that employees can jointly #movefortheearth.
Why mangroves? Because there are still some people who are not familiar with mangrove plants, mangroves actually have many benefits for our earth, such as: resisting erosion and abrasion, a source of oxygen for living things, and a habitat for marine biota.
This mangrove planting was carried out on June 29 2019 at the Mangrove Forest Realm, Wonorejo. This activity was attended by employees across divisions such as Operation, Plant, HRGA, PPIC, and DAFT.
In this activity, the participants took part in several activities. In the initial session, the participants were invited to tour the mangrove forest area and get education about mangrove plants, starting from the types of mangroves to their benefits. Then, the participants were given an explanation regarding the method of planting mangroves, and given the opportunity to practice planting mangroves accompanied by farmers. Furthermore, the participants also went around enjoying the view of the mangrove forest by boat.
At the end of the activity the participants flew the pigeons together. The flight of the dove is carried out as a symbol so that living things can live peacefully and freely in their habitat and also by this action shows that the Santosians also care about and support the preservation of living things, as well as saving the earth.
Through #tanamtreemu activities, PT. Santos Jaya Abadi hopes to increase participants' knowledge and understanding of mangroves, and to be more concerned about environmental preservation.
